Our charity Work

Giving back to our local community

Making a difference

At Witham Mill Lane Bowls Club, we believe in supporting causes that make a real difference to people’s lives. Each year we choose a charity to support through fundraising events. Donations and club activities. We are proud of the difference we’ve made together as a club and community.

Our chosen charity for 2025 & 2026: Dementia UK

About Dementia UK

Since the 1990s, Dementia UK has supported families facing dementia through its specialist dementia nurses, known as Admiral Nurses. Over the years the charity has grown, so that more families can get its life-changing support.

The charity was founded by the family of Joseph Levy, who was affectionately known as ‘Admiral Joe’ because of his love of sailing. Its Admiral Nurses are named in his honour.

Our Charity Fun Days

In both 2025 and 2026, Witham Mill Lane Bowls Club held very successful Charity Fun Days for Dementia UK. Together with our other fundraising, we raised more than £1,000: a truly magnificent sum that reflects the generosity of all our members, friends and guests.

How we fundraise

Events, Raffles & Special Social Events

Throughout the year, we bring members and visitors together through charity events, raffles and social occasions, all helping to raise money for our chosen charity.

Donations from Members & Visitors

The generosity of our members, visitors and supporters plays an important part in our fundraising. Every donation, big or small, helps us make a meaningful contribution to our chosen charity.

We’re always looking for new ways to support great causes.

If you have a suggestion for a charity we should support, we’d love to hear from you
